Global Alternative Healthcare ProjectÕs mission is to deliver free alternative healthcare to populations in the developing world with no access to healthcare. In 2006, Frank Butler founded the Global Alternative Healthcare Project (GAHP) after he spent a year on sabbatical traveling in the developing world (Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand and Africa) and treating patients with everything from a dislocated kneecap, tuberculosis, leprosy, and malaria.
In 2007, Jen Resnick and Dan Wunderlich joined GAHP as members of a pioneering team of practitioners providing care to remote villagers in Bali, Indonesia. Patients treated included expectant mothers, infants, children with developmental challenges, and adult villagers with a variety of medical complaints. In a span of twenty-five days, over 2,000 individuals were treated with acupuncture and Chinese herbs in seven outreach sites.
