Village Community Outreach
The GAHP practitioners provided community outreach to several villages including Penginyahan, Kiliki-Kawan, Kuhum, Talag and Bali Aga villages atop Mount Abang. Local hosts (primarily expatriates) helped facilitate access to village chieftains, who welcomed the treatment interventions from the practitioners. The banjar bale, a covered outdoor pavilion generally located at the center of each hamlet, served as a temporary clinic site, filled with mattresses, yoga mats and/or makeshift treatment platforms. Youth leaders helped organize the registration of patients and provided translation services during the brief patient intake. Often, the youth leaders also helped with some treatment tasks such as applying moxibustion and removing needles, which allowed the practitioners to use their time most effectively.
